Plan of Action Operation: Good News in Bad News Places Disaster Relief Ministry "Battle Plan" "…What king, … sets out to meet … in battle, will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough … to encounter the one coming against …? Jesus (Luke 14:31) Network with co-operating ministries (experienced national & international disaster ministries first—secondarily or simultaneously make local contact such as pastors, ministry leaders, schools of ministry, etc. in affected zones Simultaneously connect with those in your sphere of influence who desire to respond to the crisis—whether churches, pastors, social groups, chamber of commerce, businesses and friends and acquaintances Encourage your spiritually minded sphere of influence to only support faith based organizations who naturally minister Jesus along with the relief supplies (the churches supplies are comparatively small compared to governmental resources therefore as Col. 3:8 says we must note the most of our opportunities) Coordinate local churches and businesses to bring relief supplies to semi trailers readied to be loaded and sent to affected areas. Walmart and local grocery stores will often donate or match items purchased. Be creative. How We Stage A Disaster Relief Area: Establish a Supply Depot. For example, in New Orleans we established a partnership with Friend Ships Ministries (A Christian Navy Org), therefore we have ships to sleep 120 volunteers as well as topnotch logistics personnel with the same heart for soul winning as we have. EPOD- Evangelistic Point of Distribution. We coordinate with other ministries, set up some tents, drop off supplies, set up a mobile medical clinic, a mobile kitchen, inform the radio & TV stations, line up the cars, start our praise & worship / preaching teams, tract blitz and pray with every car and individuals who come. Win souls, win souls, win souls... get the local churches involved, put the local churches at the forefront in recognition so the new coverts will come be discipled at their churches.
MRC- Ministry Relief Caravan. From the EPODS or Supply Depot we send out caravan teams going through the neighborhoods badly hit, knocking on the doors, handing out relief boxes (Family Food Box, Child care box, Hygiene Kits, Bibles, tracts, booklets etc.) Pray for the needs of each family... lead them to Christ. Take information on them and put it in the hands of local pastors for follow up. For maximum self contained efficiency, each unit needs a 15 passenger van and or a 1 ton SUV and or a P/U pulling a trailer with ATV's, A box truck or trailer filled with supplies, hand dollies, chain saw, generator, an RV command post (if possible). And most important a loving, happy group of Jesus people who are servant hearted and love leading people to the Lord! (if you only have some of this or part of this or none of this we still need you. However if you can come self contained you will immediately be at the maximum effectiveness) This operation requires: Volunteers who love logistical ministry will be assigned to offload, sort, pack & load supplies and trucks used for resupply of both the EPOD’S and MRC’s.
